A thorough physical, orthopedic and neurological examination is done on all new patients along with a detailed history of the current problem and anything that might contribute to the problem.

As diagnosticians we are primarily concerned with identifying what we call "The Pain Producing Tissue". Is it a nerve, is it a joint, is it a muscle, etc.? The exact diagnosis is critical in order to obtain the best results with treatment.

doctor pointing at x-rayThe x-rays taken at New Health Concepts are unique in that they are all taken standing weight-bearing and we also take dynamic flexion views. X-rays taken this way not only show us bone, joint, and disc disease but also how your spine functions during activity. This is critical to proper care because it tells us how muscles and joints are functioning as well as which ones need strengthening and which ones need stretching.

Treatment at New Health Concepts consists of treatment plans aimed at first relieving pain and inflammation, secondly restoring normal function to the injured area and thirdly improving strength and flexibility through active rehab and home exercise programs.

The last phase of our treatment programs is teaching patients proper posture and lifting techniques so that the chance of their problem returning is minimal.
